. Better DS3 Review With Better DS3, you can set up your PlayStation controller to use on your computer with the same controls you use on the console. The tool offers a very simple interface, and setting it up is very straightforward and doesn't require an Internet connection. If you typically play with a controller on your PC, you can create and store custom configurations to load them directly, thus saving setup time. One of the big advantages of Better DS3 is that its interface always shows the battery status of your controllers and you can set them to disconnect automatically after a certain period of time.
After connecting the controllers, you just have to press the control panel to choose which one you want to change first, and once you add the first one, you can do the same thing with the other one. Using MotionJoy and booting straight to BPM can be a huge pain considering you have to enable the driver every time you log on. Well after searching for a solution for sometime I have found one that works for me. The file that you need is located in the first post at this link. Just click 'download latest version here.' New Install 1. Connect your Dongle and DS3 via USB and let Windows install it's default drivers. Unpack the archive.
Create a directory where you want the Service to run from. Recommended - C: Program Files Scarlet.Crush Productions. 4. Copy the contents of the ScpServer bin to the directory you created. Run ScpDriver.exe. XP/Vista - check the Force Install option. Win 7/8 leave it unchecked.
Click Install. This should do the trick. Restart your computer and steam should now detect your PS3 controller as an Xinput compatible controller without having to load a driver every time you log in. You should no longer have to load a driver every time you log in in order to get your PS3 controller to work with your games! This will make it easier to turn your PC into a dedicated SteamBox so theoretically you never have to see your desktop if you want to boot directly into BPM.Note.
I don't have blue tooth so I couldn't test the pairing, but there are instructions to pair the PS3 controller in the Link as well. Originally posted by:y not use motinojoy drivers ever? Are they bad to have? I have found that the MotioninJoy drivers have several problems: 1) The software is horribly written and can possibly overwrite your drivers for other devices, rendering them useless.
2) The uninstallation process is incomplete and leaves the drivers on your system if you wish to remove them later. This will also stop other devices from functioning if the drivers overwrote something useful. 3) The UI for the 'DS3 Tool' looks like it was made by a 3 year old. The colors are clashing, the button placement is random, and the general intuitiveness of the whole thing is nonexistent.
Just stick to the drivers that the OP linked and you'll be fine. Do not use this if you need to use your bluetooth dongle for anything else. If you have more than one dongle make sure its a different hardware version or it will overwrite the driver for both devices. I had two bluetooth dongles and using this overwrote the driver for both devices (I had the main one disconnected when I installed as well). Luckily it was fairly easy to roll back the drivers and uninstall xinputwrapper.
If you only need bluetooth for the controllers and nothing else (eg. Keyboards etc.) then this may work for you. Originally posted by:Luckily it was fairly easy to roll back the drivers and uninstall xinputwrapper. If you only need bluetooth for the controllers and nothing else (eg.
Keyboards etc.) then this may work for you. I don't need my BT dongle for anything other than the controller but I would sometimes like to be able to use it for my BT mic. I thought maybe i'd get lucky and it would somehow work with these drivers but it does not.
Anyway is the rollback process easy enough where you can do it and then undo it in a reasonable amount of time so if I wanted to make my dongle work again I could? Originally posted by:y not use motinojoy drivers ever? Are they bad to have?
In case someone else wonders why, I just had to reinstall Windows 7 64-bits completely due to an infinite blue screen loop caused by MotionInJoy. I was getting 'KnownDLL failed STOP C000021A' forever. Spent a whole trying to diagnose the issue. I'm going to try with Scarlet Crush now.
It's to do with the screen being locked with the controller attached, that's as far as I got before desks were flipped, and aforementioned better driver choices were located and installed. I've been using SCP DS3 for months now, on several machines, with varying OSes, not encountered an issue yet. Even the Bluetooth set up was completely painless.
